You may not have considered all the varied types of coffee mugs offered, but there's a lot to contemplate. I don't know about you, but I'm uninterested in seeing all the cheap plastic travel mugs people buy. They don't function properly and many of them can make your coffee taste terrible! There is a lot to think about before you just toss hard cash out the window. There are a whole lot of cut-rate mugs out there. Your best bet for finding a very well made travel mug is to buy online. Take some time to hunt for the just right travel mug, and you might find yourself with that very same mug for years to come.
Location, location, location. Will you be carrying it around at work, or using it in your car? If you will be using your mug at work, you might desire to take into account buying a mug with a nice wide foundation, so you don't knock it over on your desk.
If you're going to imbibe coffee in your car take into account your cup holder. There are as many unique types of cup holders as there are automobiles. Some will stow massive jugs of anything. Some will only have space for the thinest of mugs. For myself I like to a have a grip on my travel mug. So much so that I would almost certainly retro my car to accommodate my mug instead of the other way around. If you insist on buying a travel coffee mug with a handle then you can always look for a mug with a handle positioned high on the mug.
Size does matter. Some people imbibe a gallon of coffee a day, some people only a few ounces. Do you necessitate a large 16 oz mug, or will a 12 oz travel mug be sufficient? Remember, that a big coffee mug is a tedious coffee mug.
Some like it hot! Do you like your coffee scorching, or luke warm and foul? If you are a leisurely coffee drinker you will certainly desire a double insulated travel coffee mug. The more barrel shaped the mug the less surface area there is to insulate. So a short insulated travel mug is normally going to maintain coffee hot longer than a tall slim mug. Short and fat mugs may keep coffee hot the best, but they may not fit your car's cup holder.
What do you wish for your travel mug to be constructed of? Is stainless steel your thing, or do you prefer plastic? You can't go wrong with stainless steel, and ceramic adds a good insulating factor. Double insulated stainless steel travel mugs that are stainless on the inside and out are very nice, but combining ceramics and steel is awesome. Stainless steel looks pleasant and it lasts. Purchase the appropriate mug and you can hold on to if for a long time.
Always take into account the lid! Not all lids are made equal. When traveling with hot coffee you would like it to stay in your mug and off your lap. A lid with a taut fitting slider is the way to go. I never buy a mug with a loose swivel shut off. Those things are notorious for leaking. Swivel slides frequently become loose and leak coffee all over. I would find a mug with a secure fitting slip slider.
Absolutely check out how the lid fits in the travel mug. Some lids have stretchy rubber, or plastic gaskets around the edge. They slide into the top of the mug and are moderately secure. If you drop your mug, one of these types of lids may come off. The most preferable lids are screw on. Those puppies will not go anywhere. You may have to do some serious shopping around to discover a stainless steel mug with a screw on lid, but they are out there.
Once you've discovered your perfect travel mug make certain you study the care instructions and take good care of it. Never ever wash your travel mug in a dishwasher. Mild soap, warm water and a gentle scrub with a wash rag are the way to go. You shouldn't let the mug soak in water either. Double insulated mugs consist of an inner and outer shell that is glued together with a top ring. If you immerse it long enough water will seep into the inner walls and destroy your mug.
